Create your own colorful magic! Color Burst are concentrated, microfine, watercolor powders that produce beautiful watercolor techniques when spritzed with water. This technique is one of our favorites, and we love trying it with new stencils because the outcome is never the same twice. I used one of Ken Oliver's stencils, but this can be replicated with different sizes, shapes and styles of stencils like the ones found here.

Step 1: Position stencil on top of a piece of watercolor paper or other mixed media surface.

Step 2: Apply Color Burst over your stencil by tapping color onto desired areas. Use as many, or as few colors as you'd like.

Step 3: Here is the magical part! Spritz your work's entire surface with water.

Step 4: Once you are satisfied with the coverage, carefully use a paper towel to dab off excess pigment off of your stencil, moving slowly so it doesn't shift.

Step 5: Carefully remove stencil and allow to fully dry then display!

So simple and beautiful right? Experiment using different shades of Color Burst, different combinations of colors and varying amounts of powders or water spritzes, for one-of-a-kind creations every time. And check out Ken Oliver's The Best Ever Craft Mat as it protects your work surface when trying out these cool stenciling techniques!

Happy Crafting!
