Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you use our contact form, we receive your first and last name, your email address, the reason you pick and your message. When you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. Our articles do not currently show a comment form, so we do not collect comments.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our server keeps standard log files with your IP address, browser type, the pages you visited, the referring page and the date and time of your visit. Our analytics and advertising partners also collect information through cookies and similar technologies, as described below.
We do not sell products, run a shop, take payments or send a newsletter on this site, so we never ask for payment details or a mailing address.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Blitsy uses cookies set by WordPress and by the services listed below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though some features may not.
How to manage cookies in your browser:
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which projects readers find useful, how they reach the site and which devices they use. The analytics script is served from our own server, and the measurements are sent to Google. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, browser and device details and the pages you view. We use these reports only in aggregate to improve the site. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
Blitsy is supported by ads served through Journey by Mediavine, Mediavine’s advertising program. Ads are kept separate from our projects and never decide what we write about. Our pages also load Grow, a Mediavine service that powers features such as saving favorite posts and recommended reading, and that may store information in your browser. More details are in the Mediavine privacy policy. The section below is the text Mediavine asks every site it works with to publish.
Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)
The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.
First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.
The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:
- IP Address
- Operating System type
- Operating System version
- Device Type
- Language of the website
- Web browser type
- Email (in hashed form)
Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

Spam protection on our contact form
Our contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which loads on our pages and checks that a real person is sending the message. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sends it to Google. The Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Author pictures
Article pages request our authors’ profile pictures from Gravatar, a service run by Automattic. When that happens, Gravatar receives your IP address and browser details, but nothing you typed on our site. Its privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy.
Sharing and Pin It buttons
Our share button and the Pin It buttons that appear on images let you save a project to Pinterest. They are served from our own site. When you click one, your browser may load a script from Pinterest and you go to Pinterest, and Pinterest’s privacy policy applies to what you do there.
Related posts and site features
The related posts shown under each article are chosen on our own server from our own articles. Page caching, image loading and the scroll arrows also run on our own server. No information about you is sent anywhere to provide them. We do not load fonts from an outside font service.
Embedded content
Some articles include embedded content such as YouTube videos. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you visited the other website, which may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with it. See the Google Privacy Policy for YouTube.
How We Use Your Information
- To reply to your messages and handle project questions, corrections, image credit or removal requests and collaboration enquiries.
- To understand which projects are useful and improve the site.
- To show ads that support the site.
- To keep the site secure, block spam and keep pages loading quickly.
Sharing Your Information
We do not sell or rent the information you send us through the contact form or by email. Information is shared only with the services described above (Google, Mediavine and its partners, Gravatar and our web host) so they can provide their service, or when the law requires it. Some US state laws treat the use of advertising cookies for personalized ads as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. See Your Rights and Choices below to opt out.
How Long We Keep Information
Messages sent through the contact form or by email are kept for as long as we need them to answer you and keep a record of requests we have handled. Analytics and advertising data are kept by Google and Mediavine under their own retention settings.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or US states such as California), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or limit how it is used, and to opt out of personalized advertising. You can opt out of personalized ads with the industry opt-out pages listed in the Advertising section and, where our ad provider shows them on our pages, its privacy settings or “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link. To make any other request, use our contact page or email [email protected]. We will answer within the time the law allows and will not treat you differently for asking.
Children’s Privacy
Many of our projects are made with children, but Blitsy is written for adults: parents, teachers, caregivers and crafters. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and our contact form is meant for adults. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site runs over a secure HTTPS connection, and access to our WordPress dashboard is limited to our team. No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to Other Websites
Blitsy links to makers, sources and other websites we do not control. When you follow a link to another site, you are no longer on our site and that site’s privacy policy applies.
Changes to This Policy
We update this policy when the services we use change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and changes take effect when they are posted here.
Disclaimer
For information only. The projects and information on Blitsy are for informational and educational purposes. We work to keep them accurate, but we make no promises or guarantees about the accuracy, completeness or suitability of any content, and we are not liable for errors or omissions.
Crafting and DIY safety. Crafts and DIY projects can involve tools, heat, paint, glue, sharp objects and small parts. Follow the maker’s instructions for every tool and material, wear protective gear where it is needed, and supervise children closely. An adult should handle tools, heat and anything sharp in kids’ crafts. You take on any project at your own risk.
No warranty. No warranty of any kind, implied, expressed or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of non-infringement of third-party rights, title, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and freedom from computer viruses, is given for the content of this website or its links to other websites.
Products and trade names. When we mention a specific product, brand, process or service, it is for your information and convenience and does not mean Blitsy endorses or recommends it.
Advertising and affiliate disclosure. Blitsy earns money from the ads shown on our pages. We do not currently use affiliate links. If an article ever includes affiliate links or sponsored content, we will say so clearly on that page.
Credit for other makers. Projects featured in our roundups belong to the makers who created them, and we link to the original. If you see your image or project on Blitsy and want it credited differently or removed, use our contact page and we will sort it out.
