How to Draw Cat Noir Step by Step (Easy Chibi Hero)

Two pointy ears and a shock of yellow hair are enough for most kids to shout his name before you've finished the face. Cat Noir is a fun character to practice because his look is built from bold shapes: a black suit, a black mask and one bright gold bell. How to Draw Cat Noir Step by Step

Step 1: Sketch a head circle and a body oval

Lightly draw a straight line down the center of your paper and a ground line near the bottom. Near the top, draw a large circle for the head. Under it, slightly overlapping, add a small upright oval for the body. On a chibi the head is the star, so the circle should be close to twice as wide as the oval.

💡 Tip: Leave room above the circle. His ears and hair spikes stick up past it.

Step 2: Add the eye, ear, limb and staff guides

Cross the head with a level line just below the middle; the eyes will sit on it. On top of the circle, draw two triangles leaning outward for the ears. Add slanted lines for the arms, two short lines down to the ground for the legs, and one long diagonal line on the right for the staff.

💡 Tip: Tilt the ear triangles out a little. Straight-up ears make him look surprised.

Step 3: Draw the face and the cat ears

Trace the lower half of the circle for his cheeks and chin, stopping a bit above the eye line on both sides. Then draw the tips of the ears over your triangles, curving the outer edges slightly. You only need the parts above where the hair will go, so the ear bottoms stay open for now.

💡 Tip: Round off the very tip of each ear by a hair. Needle-sharp points look more like horns.

Step 4: Draw his messy spiky hair

This part makes him Cat Noir. Draw a big zigzag outline around the top of the head, with spikes poking out at the sides and a few between the ears. Bring a lock down each side of the face. Across the forehead, add a row of pointed bangs, letting the middle one hang a little lower. Add three short strands inside.

💡 Tip: Make the spikes different sizes on purpose. Even spikes look like a crown, uneven ones look messy in a good way.

Step 5: Draw the small body and boots

Use the oval to draw a narrow torso with soft shoulders and a rounded bottom. Underneath, draw two short legs side by side, each flaring out into a little boot that rests flat on the ground line. Then draw one short line across each leg for the top of the boot.

💡 Tip: Leave a thin gap between the legs. Without it, they'll merge into one black block once colored.

Step 6: Add the arms and the silver staff

Draw two short arms hanging close to the body, ending in round mitten hands at about hip height. Now follow the diagonal guide to draw the staff as a long, thin rod with rounded ends that passes behind the right hand. Add two thin bands near the ends.

💡 Tip: Draw the hand first, then the staff. Stop the staff lines where they meet the hand so he really grips it.

Step 7: Draw the belt and the curly tail

His tail is really the end of his belt. Draw a band across the waist, about as thick as a finger, between the two arms. Then, from behind the left leg, draw a thick curving line that swings out to the side and finishes in a small curl. Keep its two edges evenly spaced.

💡 Tip: Keep the fang tiny. If it's as long as the smile is tall, he starts to look like a vampire.

Step 10: Ink the lines and erase the guides

Go over every line you want to keep with your fineliner, working from the top of the head down so your hand doesn't drag through fresh ink. Skip all the pale helper shapes. Once the ink is dry, erase the pencil. Be gentle around the eyes and the tail curl, where the lines sit close together.

💡 Tip: Turn the paper as you ink the hair spikes. Pulling the pen toward you gives cleaner points.

Step 11: Color your Cat Noir

Start with the light parts: yellow hair, peach face, pink cheeks, green eyes and a gold bell. Then fill the suit and mask with black, along with the ears and boots. Use dark gray for the belt, the tail and the inner ears, and silver gray for the staff. On a black suit, I leave a few soft dark gray streaks on the arms and legs so they still look round.

💡 Tip: Color the yellow before the black. Black pencil crumbs smudge into light colors very easily.

Cat Noir Slip-Ups and How to Fix Them

Ears hidden in the hair. If the hair covers most of the ears, he just looks like a blond kid. Let at least the top half of each ear stand clear.
Neat, combed hair. Smooth hair belongs to his everyday self, not the hero. Add uneven spikes and let one bang hang lower.
Round pupils. Ordinary dots lose the cat feeling. Use pointed slits, even if they're small.
Coloring every black part pure black. The arms and body blur into one shape. Leave thin outlines visible and add gray streaks for shine.
