What does your dream craft space look like? I have spent hours on Pinterest looking at and cultivating photos of my ‘dream’ craft space. It would be functional, eclectic, and have oodles of storage.

The reality is that my craft space is a very small room with no windows! While I am very grateful to have a room dedicated to my hobbies I dream of having heaps of storage. For this reason I love to find products that can be used in multiple ways. It limits the amount of tools and you get more for your money. Stencils or templates are a perfect product with multiple uses.

For today’s layout, I used a stencil from Crafter’s Workshop to create cut outs that I backed or paper pieced with pattern paper. Originally, I planned on just using the stencil to add some texture paste to the background. I love the white on white look, but this photo needed more color behind it ... (as you can see our little puppy Ellie is finding her inner diva) ... I didn't want to give up and start over so I used the shapes and cut around the texture paste. You still get the texture and dimension but adding the pattern paper to the cut outs really adds life to layout. Make sure to watch the process video below for step by step instructions.

After creating the background with the stencil. I layered some paper behind my photo, a gold title, and embellishments.

Tracing stencils and cutting out the shapes is a great way to get more use out of them. I would love to hear any ideas you have for multiple ways to use a stencil. Thanks so much for stopping by.
