Throw a Pretty Party in One Hour or Less
Create an elegant party scene with whimsical Maggie Holmes designed paper and embellishments!
Hello, friends! Summer birthdays are my favorite, and I have a lovely summer-inspired party just for you! My niece just happens to be visiting this summer on her birthday, so we are surprising her with a simple and elegant surprise party. To save on time, I am using several pre-made embellishments and papers made by Maggie Holmes Crate Paper, which are available for purchase on Blitsy.
To keep the party simple, I am sticking with three basic elements; cupcake toppers, drinks, and a party favor. I find that simple parties are always best, so besides a few games or activities, it really is okay to keep the food and treat table simple!
Here's a peek at all of the embellishments and supplies I purchased from Blitsy:

You will also need paper straws, a hot glue gun, adhesive pop dots, and coordinating scrapbook paper. This Maggie Holmes Crate Paper collection has a beautiful paper line that comes in a 6x6 and 12x12 pad.
To get started, first make the bow cupcake toppers by cutting your paper straws in half, then gluing the pre-made bows to the top of the straws. You can hand-cut cupcake liners with coordinating paper, but it's totally optional. Sometimes, I just buy cupcake liners from a store!
My favorite thing about these Maggie Holmes bows is that they come in several different colors! The gold is definitely my fave. :)
When it's time for your party, just insert the toppers in your cupcakes, pushing them about half way down. Wait until the party is about to start, as it is hard to store the cupcakes in an air tight container with the toppers attached.
To make the soda bottles, cover the bottle exterior with coordinating paper, then add embellishments to the front of the jar using your adhesive pop-dots.
There are a lot of fabulous embellishments in this collection, so be creative and have fun with it!
After decorating your bottles, insert the paper straws, and just wait until your guests arrive to fill the bottles with your favorite drink. I keep a simple plastic funnel in my kitchen, so liquids are easy to pour in these bottles, and I can wash and use them again and again!
For the favor bags, I like to send guests home with a favorite treat. These candy-covered almonds are going to be a big hit!
These bags are so easy to make. I just filled them with candy, folded the top one inch down, and glued it shut. Then I embellished the front with leftover paper scraps and more embellishments. Each bag turned out a little different, making it unique and easy for guests to remember which one is theirs.
This collection has several lovely garlands, and this tassel garland in mint, gold, and salmon pink is my favorite! Here's a tip when hanging party banners: use washi tape to adhere them to your walls. The tape holds well, but it doesn't ruin your paint finish on the wall. It also allows you to use your pennant or banner again and again!
That's it! This party was so easy to throw together! It took me just under and hour to decorate and make all the projects. I just love throwing parties together when I can purchase such lovely supplies from Blitsy. My niece is going to be so surprised!
