Scrapbook Paper Decor With Dimension

Posted by Meghan Quinones
Give your floral scrapbook paper some serious dimension and create fun decor with this dimensional floral quote plaque tutorial.

Foam dimensional squares are awesome. Seriously AWESOME! I try to use them whenever I can because I love the added dimension they give a project. They can seriously take a project to the next level!

I was going through our warehouse the other day and came across some really pretty floral paper. As I looked at my paper, It hit me; why not use my dimensional foam squares to layer my flower and really make them stand out. Once I knew I wanted to use dimensional flowers in a project, my project just kind of came together. I began pulling random items from the warehouse. When I saw we had a 6x6 wooded circle, I grabbed it and let it guide the rest of my project. I figured since I was already on the dimensional train, I would continue riding it by adding gold Stickles to the centers of my flowers! The glittery gold glue gave my paper some really pretty texture.

As I continued my warehouse tour of goodness, I saw some mini easels hiding in a bin. Uh, score! I thought the mini easel would be the perfect mate for my wood circle plaque. And that, my friends, is how my Dimensional Floral Quote Plaque was born! Check out my full tutorial below to see how you can make you own quote plaque!

What quote would you ad to your plaque?

Here's what you'll need:

  • 3 Sheets of Crate Paper Notes & Things Floral Paper and 1 Sheet of the Triangle Design
  • 6x6 Round Wooden Plaque
  • Mini Wood Easel
  • Gold Acrylic Paint
  • Dimensional Foam Squares
  • Scissors
  • Mod Podge
  • Paint Brush
  • Pencil
  • Quote Stamp
  • Black Ink Pad
  • Pink Ink Pad
  • Sponge Dauber
  • Gold Stickles
  • White Cardstock

Let's get crafty!

Paint your easel gold as well as the outside ridge of your wooden plaque.

Pick out your favorite flowers from your paper (I chose three different designs) and cut out three of each design you choose (this is how we will stack our flowers).

Add your dimensional squares to the top of your paper. Then, place the same cut design out on top of it. You will then add another layer of dimensional foam squares to the top of your second paper layer, followed by your third cut-out. After all of you paper layers have been added, use your Stickles to cover the black dots in the center of your flowers. I also added some gold Stickles to the white centers of my other flowers.

Stamp your quote on your white cardstock. Trim around your quote, leaving about an 1/8 inch around your stamped image. Grab your foam dauber, dip it in your pink ink, and run it along the edges of your paper. I then added dimensional foam squares to the back.

Lay your circle plaque on your triangle paper and trace around it. You will create two circles (one for the front and one for the back of your plaque). Cut out both of your circles.

I added Mod Podge directly to my wood plaque and placed my paper on top. You will repeat this step on the back of your plaque.

I decided to have one of my flowers hang off the edge of my plaque. I placed my paper where I wanted it and rubbed my finger over the edge so I could see where to cut my flower. I then cut off the excess of my paper and used it as a template to cut down my other two matching flower designs. Note: I did this before I added my dimensional squares.

Arrange your flowers on your plaque and add glue to the back, adhering them to your plaque. After you adhere all of your paper elements, place your plaque on your easel and you are finished!
