Brush pens have become a wonderful way to create cards and projects with a painterly effect. Most are water-based and easily blendable for beginners and experts alike ensuring the watercolor trend is here to stay. As a result, waterbrushes have become very popular. These lightweight, portable brushes are refillable and eliminate the need to haul around a cup and water. But what if you want to take your brush pen art to the next level? Add sparkle of course!
I created this shimmery watercolor card using the Zig Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Pen in Clear Glitter in place of a regular waterbrush. This technique works well with any waterbased medium, but here I used it with the Zig Real Color Brush Pens and am absolutely impressed with how easy it was to blend color and shimmer onto my card.
I simply stamped and embossed my image with clear ink and clear embossing powder. This creates a resist and the raised texture helps contain the waterbased pigments within the design. Because the Wink of Stella Brush Pen is also waterbased, the glittery solution mixes well with the inks to seamlessly fill in, shade and delineate with ease.
Beautiful brush pen art with all of the shimmer and no glittery mess!
