Hi everyone, Kim Dellow here and I'll confess, I'm a bit in love with neon! I can't help myself; I'm just attracted to bright things! So when I saw the Papermania Neon range in Blitsy, I snapped it up. I love the Neon buttons and tassels and thought they would match beautifully with some old denim fabric I have from an old pair of jeans. This wearable mixed media project just seemed perfect for the denim and neon combo. Add in some lovely WOW Embossing Powders, some texture stamping with the Finnabair stamp range and you have a fun mixed media cuff to wear around the wrist.

Make a snip with a pair of scissors in a piece of denim fabric then rip it apart. Make another snip in the fabric wide enough to make a cuff and rip the fabric. Then repeat to make a second, slightly thinner strip of denim.

Cover the thinner strip of denim with the Golden Regular gel (gloss) and let it dry completely. If you are using the Matte gel, then use the gel sparingly; if it is too thick, you will see a film on the denim.

When the gel is dry, stamp over the surface just as you would on paper or card. Use the Versamark and stamp one of the Finnabair stamps on the denim then add the WOW Embossing powder and flick the back of the fabric to remove the excess before heat setting the image.

Keep stamping and embossing the denim strip until you are happy and have a good covering of the denim.

Trim a piece of the Coats Phoomph to fit the back of the embossed denim strip and stick it down. Then stick the embossed strip to the wider denim strip from Step 1 and trim one of the ends.

Use embroidery thread to sew on the buttons and tassels to the front of the cuff. Sew one side of the snap fasteners on the inside of the trimmed end of the cuff, sewing carefully so that the thread does not come through to the top of the cuff.

Then line up the cuff on your wrist to get the size you need and use a dab of paint like the IrRESISTible Pico Embellisher to mark off where the snap fastener needs to go, then line up the second part of the snap fastener with the first part and stitch them in place.

This mixed media cuff idea can be used with all sorts of themes, it doesn't have to be neon. You can even add book pages or patterned paper to the denim with the gel media and use other embellishments like cogs or charms instead.

Have fun with it and remember to share your new cuff with the Secret Blitsy addict Facebook page.
