Hi, it’s Kim Dellow here and today I thought I would add a bit of sparkle to my art journal! It is funny, I use my glitter glues in card making but I rarely add them to my mixed media projects so I thought it might be fun to shift the balance a bit and make a glittery art journal page. I’ve used it just as I would use a gel medium or a paste and added it to the page through a stencil but you could easily add it in different ways. It can make an interesting texture when mixed in with paint or when painted over so go on have a sparkly play!

Let's Make A Glitter Page!
I started my page in my junk journal but you could easily do this in a Strathmore Journal or on a canvas if you liked. Cover the surface you are using with a thick and uneven layer of gesso and let it dry completely.
Once the page is dry die cut a star from card and place it on the page then place the stencil over the top and use washi tape to hold the items together and on the page. I also added a spare piece of paper to mask off some of the top of the wall stencils as I did not want it too big.
Squeeze the glitter glue onto spare card and use a palette knife to spread it over the stencil.
Change colors of glue as you work along the stencil then remove all the masks and stencils and let the page dry.
On spare card use a red paint and add more glitter across the paint surface then let this dry too.
Die cut a medium star and four small stars from the red glitter card and stick them on the page with gel medium.
A lot of sparkle with a little bit of effort and you have a gleaming journal page! If you don’t have any glitter glues but you do have gel medium and glitter then try using gel medium and sprinkling it with the glitter whilst the medium is still wet, it is a little bit messier but just as sparkly!
Thanks for popping in.
