It is really nice and convenient to work on a project using only one collection. The papers, embellishments, alphas all from the same manufacturer and the same collection. Whether you are going to a crop, vacation, or just have limited space using one collection can make things faster, lighter, and easier. But, if you are anything like me, the idea of all the pages looking exactly the same, isn't usually what I am going for. I have discovered that by simply adding my signature flair or style I can create projects that are cohesive yet not cookie cutter and all from the same few supplies. For this project I used a new collection from Pinkfresh Studio called Happy Things. But you can use any collection your love or have in your stash.

One my favorite, and most frequent, styles is to create my own background paper. I have done several projects either using a stencil, mist, stamps, watercoloring or diecutting backgrounds for my layouts. I believe creating your own background can completely change up the same papers from project to project. For this one, I created a background with Distress Ink and Gesso. To add some bold contrast I used some droplets of India Ink and recreating one of the icons from the collection using a stamp. For more details about this please watch the video below.
