I know some people think mail is slowly dying out, but I still have hope that it will be around for years to come. I still send mail and love when I get happy mail. You can't deny the excitement that comes along when you realize you've received a package in the mail. Every time a brown box or envelope arrives with my name on it, I get so incredibly excited, even if I am expecting the package, I am still over the moon when it arrives!

Since I know how excited I get when I receive a package in the mail, I wanted to take that excitement one step further by making the packages I send just as exciting. We have all sent gifts via mail in just a plain box or mailer, not giving the outside much thought since the exciting part is actually what's on the inside. Well, I wanted my actual package to stand out so I decided to decorate the outside with fun papers and stickers! This DIY not only gives your mailer some character, but it will also bring a huge smile to the face of the recipient you are sending it to!

Have you ever embellished or decorated the outside of a box or envelope you were sending with a gift inside?

Here's what you'll need:

  • Mailer
  • Patterned Scrapbook Paper
  • Cardstock
  • Ink Pad
  • Dauber
  • Scissors
  • Alpha Stamps
  • Large Saying Stickers
  • Martha Stewart Edge Punch
  • Glue

Let's get crafty!

Lay your mailer on top of your cardstock with the flap open, trace around the outside of your mailer, and cut it out. Flip your mailer over, trace around it and cut it out.

Glue both of your papers to the front and back of your mailer.

Grab your dauber and place it in the center of two ink colors. I picked pink and orange. Add dots to your paper.

Spell out your alpha letters and dip them in your ink.

Cut out your words, notch out the end and add a piece of papered paper before your sentiment.

Use your border punch on your patterned paper. Glue it to your mailer and trim off the excess.

Add your glitter sticker and sentiment. Flip your envelope over and add a piece of paper to write down your recipients address.

Now, just fill your mailer with goodies, pop it in the mailbox and wait for the smiles to come!
