Hi friends! The weather is changing and it's the perfect time to make a beautiful transition to fall - my favorite season of them all!

One of the MANY ways I like to celebrate {and remember} every change in season, is to create a one-of-a-kind keepsake with my Lil Man. It's just a nice way to create something that is not only inexpensive and easy to display in my home BUT it's also a great way to take a trip down memory lane & see how much he has grown.

If you are looking to do the same {whether to add to your own collection or gift to grandparents} today's Handprint Pumpkin Keepsake is a good place to start! It's really easy to pull together and you can customize it for fall or even Halloween.

So what are you waiting for? Let's grab our supplies and get to work on making a personalized piece that is not only budget friendly and unique but it's also sure to be a treasured piece for years to come! Happy crafting and creating sweet memories, my friends!

Here's what you'll need:

  • Large Canvas
  • Orange, Green, Purple, Brown Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Letter Stickers
  • Mod Podge
  • Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes

Let's get crafty!

First, you will want to paint a large pumpkin shape in the center of your canvas. You can either free-style this {like we did} or use a stencil if you have one. You will want your pumpkin to be much larger than your child's hand.

Next, I painted a brown stem on the top of my pumpkin. Then, I painted my son's right hand completely green and pressed it down on the canvas, near the stem to create the "leaf" of the pumpkin.

Since I was going for more of a Halloween look, I decided to give our pumpkin some Jack-O-Lantern features. You can, of course, keep yours simple & plain or do what I did. The decision is yours!

Now comes the stickers. Since our keepsake idea is centered around a pumpkin theme, I went ahead and put stickers around our finished design that said "My Lil Pumpkin" along with his age in the center of the "handprint" leaf. You can, of course, change that up to say your child's name, a special saying, date etc.

To seal the letters in on the canvas, I put a thin layer of Mod Podge on top with a paint brush.

To finish it all off and give it some flair - I had my son help me add a pretty green and purple dot pattern around the edge. This was done by dipping the end of the paint brush in the leftover paint and then on the canvas. Repeat for all sides.

Then let it all dry completely before displaying {or maybe gifting away} proudly!
