Looking for a kid friendly craft idea to beat the winter blues? Perhaps you're looking for a creative way to send some happy mail to friends and family far away? Whether buried in drifts or living in a more temperate climate – everyone LOVES a jolly frosty friend & today's crafty idea is sure to well-received by the lucky receiver!

Enjoy “building” your own snowy friend with your child today with our easy step-by-step Footprint Snowman Cards tutorial below.

It's a cinch! All you need is some colored cardstock, some white paint and a little creativity to create a one-of-a-kind piece that can be treasured for years to come!

So no more excuses my crafty friends! Don’t let the creativity melt away – "let it snow" and make these awesome Footprint Snowman Cards with your child this afternoon & have them in the mail tomorrow! Happy crafting!!!

Here's what you'll need:

  • Colored Cardstock (most importantly black & orange)
  • White Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Scissors
  • Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Optional - Poinsettia Embellishment Stickers

Let's get crafty!

First grab a single sheet of cardstock {preferably a dark color so the white will stand out}

Make the base of your snowmen by painting your child's foot completely white and then pressing it in the center of your cardstock. Set aside to let it dry completely. Once dry, trim around the footprint shape so it will fit on a card front.

Repeat for each snowman card you want to make.

Now you are ready for the embellishments.

Grab your remaining cardstock and cut out a hat, nose, buttons, scarf and eyes to complete the snowman. Go ahead and glue those on top of the footprint to give your snowman life. At this time, your child can also add other embellishments they see fit & really make it their own!

To finish off your Footprint Snowman Cards - fold another sheet out of cardstock in half to make a card. Go ahead and glue your footprint snowman to the front of it. For added flair (and a nicer touch) I went ahead and trimmed around another piece of cardstock to go around our footprint design, then glued it down to the front of the card.

Once done, write a sweet message inside with your child, slip in an envelope and mail away!
