DIY Trendy Tulle Tote

Posted by Meghan Quinones

It's time to bag your groceries in style!

This DIY shopper is modern and cool. I love the way this bag looks, not to mention it is completely functional. When you bag your groceries in a trendy shopper, you save the planet AND look cool doing it. I would have to say that is a win-win all around!

The secret to this hip shopper is tulle. Yep, it's tulle, NOT paint! I used fabric Mod Podge to adhere my tulle to my bag. The Mod Podge put a nice thick protective coating over my tulle, waterproofing it. I need to make more of these bags so I will actually be excited to head to the grocery store!

Here's what you'll need:

- Tote Bag
- Tulle
- Mod Podge for Fabric
- Scissors
- Paint Brush

Let's get crafty!

Step 1: Cut your tulle so it is the same width as your bag. You will want to cut 2 more strips of tulle that are the same size for a total of 3 strips.

Step 2: Place one strip of tulle towards the bottom of your tote.

Step 3: Place another piece of tulle an inch and a half up from your first strip.

Step 4: Place your third piece of tulle so the top of it is an inch and a half above your second piece of tulle.

Step 5: Begin covering your tulle with your Mod Podge. Use your hand to hold your tulle in place.

Step 6: Continue covering your tulle in Mod Podge. Make sure you go over the edges (about 5mm) to completely cover the tulle. Let your Mod Podge dry. After it dries you will have a bag that looks painted, but is not!
