Hello, friends! Did you know that winter is the BEST time of year to go start gazing? It's true! The colder temperatures tend to create clearer air and skies. You also have more viewing time since it get's darker earlier at night. Star gazing is one of our most favorite things to do as a family, so I thought I would put together a fun little family activity encouraging everyone to go get some fresh air, and check out the night sky!

To create this astronomy inspired party, all you need is a few supplies to get started!

  • American Crafts Pow Glitter Paper in Gold
  • Heidi Swapp September Skies Star Gazing 12"x12" Cardstock
  • We R Memory Keepers Wildflower Layered Tags
  • Pom Pom Trim
  • Scissors
  • Kraft Treat Sacks
  • Tape Runner

First, let's make the soda bottles! Wrap your drink bottles in the gold glitter Pow paper by cutting 3"x9" strips of paper. The glitter Pow cardstock is seriously my favorite glitter paper. It has all the shine, but no glittery mess! After cutting your bottles wrappers, adhere them with your tape runner.

Using your pom pom fringe ribbon, next tie the star gazing tags from the We R Memory Keepers layered tags to your bottles.

To make the cupcake toppers, hand or machine die-cut stars from the gold Glitter Pow paper. Attach to your favorite paper straws, and embellish with the pom pom ribbon.

For the treat sacks, cut 4.75"x4" pieces from the patterned cardstock, and adhere to each sack. Line the top and bottom of the patterned paper with a strip of Pow Glitter paper.

If your are throwing an astronomy inspired party, fill your goodie bags with star candy! If you are hosing a fun family activity like we did, I picked up a pair of small inexpensive binoculars for each family member. They fit perfectly in the kraft sacks, and were a big hit!

For my cupcakes, I cut cupcake liners with the same star patterned paper. They sure were a big hit with my kids! Family activities should always end in cupcakes, don't you think? ;)
