DIY Shark Bathing Suit Bag
The craft project is perfect for your next trip to the beach. Transform a ferocious shark into a friendly helper with this easy DIY swim suit bag.
As shark week continues, I (appropriately) decided to channel the beach. I mean, that's where you find sharks, right? This project is not only functional, it also transforms the shark (which is terrifying to most of us) into a friendly helper. How, you ask? Keep reading...
After a long day at the beach, you jump in the water for one last swim. You splash around for a bit and then call it quits. As you begin to pack up all of your belongings, you realize you did not leave enough time for your bathing suit to dry. Major bummer! Instead of tossing your wet bathing suit into your bag with your other belongings, throw it into your Shark Bathing Suit Bag!
To transform my canvas bag into one that was waterproof, I turned to my fabric Mod Podge. This stuff acts as a sealer for fabric and gives it an oilcloth feel. Score!!! To make it more playful, I added a felt shark that looks like it is in attack mode, but really he is just hungry for some wet bathing suits, duh. I cut the body of my shark out first. Then, I added the red open mouth, which I also cut out of felt. I cut out some small triangles from my white felt for teeth and then finally cut out two black felt circles for my shark's eyes. After you cover your bag and shark with fabric Mod Podge, you can grab your suit (and bag) and head to the beach-- just be sure to watch out for those real sharks!
