DIY Origami Art

Posted by Meghan Quinones

I'll be honest, I have never actually played around with origami paper before. When I saw we were selling it, I decided it was time to give it a try. At first, I was looking for beginner tutorials since I was new to origami. I made a simple butterfly and a super easy chick.

After doing different origami tutorials, I decided to come up with my own design. I started folding and unfolding my paper. I used my square piece of paper and then cut it into a smaller strip. I was trying to find a simple design that was easy, yet interesting looking. I finally landed on a cool looking 3-D triangle shape. I decided to glue the back two triangles together so it would hold its 3-D shape.

After creating a ton of my triangles, I finally came up a way to use them. I created a cool looking design with multiple triangles. I glued all of my triangles to a piece of cardstock and framed my masterpiece! You could also add this design to your cards and layouts to add extra dimension.

Here's what you'll need:

Let's get crafty!

Step 1: Cut your paper into strips. Start by making strips that are 1 inch wide.

Step 2: Then, cut your strips so they are 2 inches wide.

Step 3: Take one of your strips of paper and turn it so the white side is showing. Then, fold the right corner up so you have a triangle.

Step 4: Fold your triangle to the left so you create a square.

Step 5: Unfold the second triangle you made. Flip your paper over so your triangle is on the left now. Fold the square on the left down, making another triangle.

Step 6: Place glue on the back of one of your triangles and glue the other triangle to it. That's it! Now, whip up a ton of these guys!
