DIY Heather Lins Stitched Gemstone 2015 Calendar

Posted by Meghan Quinones

How is 2015 just around the corner? It feels like we were just ringing in 2014! With the new year means a new calendar. I am always on the hunt for a new calendar. Of course, it takes me a while to find the right one because I want it to be cute!

Let me just tell you, the Heather Lins Calendar Kits are BEYOND adorable! These calendar kits are cute plain, but they are made to be stitched. I am a HUGE fan of stitched paper. I love when paper and floss are paired together and create extra dimension and texture. I went with the Gemstone Genealogy Calendar Kit. However the other two kits are equally adorable. The Stitch the Stars Kit has glow in the dark floss, perfect for viewing your stars at night!

Here's what you'll need:

  • Heather Lins Gemstone Genealogy 2015 Calendar Kit
  • Scissors

Let's get crafty!

Use your needle to punch holes thorugh all of the white circles marked on each gem.

Cut your floss 24 inches long, thread your needle, and tie a knot at the end.

Go up through one hole you punch around the exterior of the gemstone. Then, go back down the the next hole. Go up through the next hold and then back down through the prior hole. You are doing a back stitch.

Continue stitching around your gemstone adding stitching around all of the geometric shapes within your gemstone. Repeat these steps will all of your gemstones and you will have your trendy 2015 calendar finished!
