I have a confession to make...

I do not do needlepoint, however, I LOVE embroidery hoops! You may be asking yourself, "How is it possible to love a supply used in a craft that you do not do?". The reason I love embroidery hoops is because I think they are so versatile in the crafting world; they aren't just for needlepoint crafting! I have made countless projects with plain wooden embroidery hoops. I've created decorative wooden spheres, a West Elm Orb, a mirror, Anthropologie Inspired Artwork, and now fabric lanterns!

All you need to do to get started with your very own fabric lanterns is to pick your favorite fabric pattern, color, or print. I used a 7 inch wooden embroidery hoop, but you could certainly use a smaller or larger hoop based on how you plan on using your lanterns. You can also make them as short or as long as you want. The possibilities are really endless! After you create your fabric lanterns, you could get a light kit and actually add a functioning light to the inside. I did not add a light since my lanterns were used as a playful backdrop.

See how easy that was? Where would you hang your fabric lanterns?

You could whip up a bunch of these and use them as a backdrop for a photo booth at a wedding! You could also hang a bunch of them from a large tree at a wedding!
