DIY Etched Glass Pen Holder

Etch Away

When I see beautifully etched glass I am always in awe of how it looks. The artistry of glass etching is so pretty. When I found out you can etch glass yourself I was super pumped! I had no idea it could be so easy. It is a matter of picking a stencil (or creating your own design), applying the Armour Etch, waiting for the magic to happen, and then rinsing off the etching cream. The end result is pretty amazing. Just think of all of the fun projects you could do with glass and Armour Etch!

Want to start your very own etching project? Head on over to and snag the Armour Etch that we have on sale right now!

Supplies Needed

  • Glass Container (I used a glass mason jar)
  • Armour Etch
  • Letter Stickers
  • Painter's Tape
  • Paint Brush
  • Wooden Popsicle Stick
  • Scissors
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Cotton Ball

Let's Get Crafty!

Use rubbing alcohol to clean the area you plan on putting your stickers. Once the area is dry, put your stickers (or stencil) on your glass.

Rub your popsicle stick over your stickers, smoothing them down.

Place your painter's tape around your stickers in the shape of a rectangle. Use your popsicle stick to rub the surface of your tape, making sure you get rid of any bubbles.

With your paint brush, apply a generous amount of Armour Etch over the entire surface inside your painter's tape. Let the etch cream sit for about 10-15 minutes. You want to make sure the cream has time to work its magic.

Once time is up, rinse the etch cream off in the sink. Use a paper towel to remove any extra cream and water from the surface.
