DIY Dollar Store Make-up Brush Holder

Posted by Meghan Quinones

Having just moved, my life has been a little bit in disarray. When I was in my bathroom the other day, trying to find one of my make-up brushes, I knew it was time to get some organization in my life.

I recently took a trip to the Dollar Store and picked up a pen holder that I had planned on using for pens, markers, etc. I had not actually filled my holder with any supplies yet, and thought it would be perfect as a make-up brush holder! To give my holder some design, I added embroidery floss to felt triangles and then added them to my holder. It looks like I embroidered my felt onto my holder, but guess again! I actually glued the triangles to my holder! This was much easier than trying to work within a small confined space.

Make sure you check out the Sublime Stitching Embroidery Thread at Blitsy! There are so many fun color packs to choose from!

Here's what you'll need:
- Dollar Store Pen Holder
- Sublime Stitching Embroidery Floss (Portrait)
- Scissors
- Felt
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue
- Needle

Let's get crafty!

Fold your felt in half and cut out an inch square. Then, cut your square at a diagonal, giving your four triangles.

Pull your knotted thread through the front right corner of your triangle. Then, go down through the center point.

Go up through the left corner and then back down through the center point. Then, go up through the front right corner.

Go down through the left corner and tie a knot.

Continue the above steps until you have made 6 triangles with gold, peach, and pink thread.

Put hot glue on the back of your felt triangle.

Glue your triangle to your make-up holder.

Glue your remaining triangles to your holder, scattering them throughout.
