Here Is What You Will Need:

AMC Project Life Die Nesting Metal (Shop Blitsy's full selection of dies here!)

Golden Soft Gel Medium

Liquitex Acrylic Gesso Surface Prep-White

Ranger Inkssentials Cut N Dry Foam

Comic books (old)

Craft knife

Let’s Make!

Start by tearing some comic book pages into strips – make sure no one wants to read it and that it isn’t a valuable one!

Coat the surface of the coaster with the Golden gel medium and lay the comic strip over the top. Then brush another coat of gel on and keep working like this until the whole coaster is covered.

Let the coaster dry completely and cut out some hearts from paper with the heart-shaped die.

Use something level, like a ruler, to line up the two coasters and roll up a piece of repositionable tape in your fingers to stick the hearts in lines on the coasters.

Then use a piece of the Cut N’ Dry to sponge the Gesso over the surface of the coasters. You might want to do two or three layers of Gesso, depending on the look you are going for.

You can also use paint for this step, but I wanted a slightly translucent look to the surface so that you could see the comic book pages when you look closely.

Hey, this techniques isn't just for coasters! You could do a couple of placemats too with a big heart in the middle. How perfect would that look for your special dinner? Yep, that is next on my to-do list!
