1. Choose your medium.
Start by choosing one of the many texture mediums offered by Prima. I really love the Finnabair Art Extravagance White Sand Texture Paste. It literally looks and feels like gritty, sparkly sand!
2. Add color!
I prefer to work with clear or white texture pastes because I can then add color with acrylic paints, watercolors, mica powders and much more. Simply mix in small amounts at a time to your medium and mix using a silicone brush. In the case of the crackle paste, you'll want to lay down your watercolor wash first and once dry, apply the crackle paste to the top. The thicker the layer, the more it crackles. Or you may want to work the other way around and go to step 3 first, apply your medium, allow to dry and add color to the top. The pigments will bring out the texture of the dried medium.
3. Choose a method of application.
Apply your medium to your surface using the silicone brush and a stencil for even more texture and pattern, swirl a thick layer on your surface and allow the peaks to dry as is, or use these double ended brushes to create textured lines on your surface.
