When I was at CHA this year I stopped by the Altenew booth to see what new releases they had. Man, was I blown away at all of the awesome goodies they came out with this year. There were so many new stamp and coordinating die sets. Altenew does a fantastic job when it comes to creating amazing on-trend stamps and to make life easier, they create coordinating dies to go along with them. This really makes the crafting options unlimited since you can either stamp directly onto paper, or you can perfectly cut out your stamped image with a die. So easy!
One set that really caught my eye was "Be Strong". I fell in love with this set because it had a few cacti designs and other playful items like lightbulb strands, a pinwheel, and watering can. I'm obviously a sucker for anything that has a cactus on it! I ended up pairing the stamp set with Altenew's new alcohol markers to create a cute cactus card. The markers were easy to use, which makes them perfect for beginners!

To create this cute cactus card, start by stamping a piece of cardstock with two of the cactus stamps and the string of lights stamp. Use the darkest shade of green marker to add a bit of color to the bottom 1/3 of the larger cactus stem and branches. You want to add only a little as you will use other shades of green to blend them all together. Use the lightest shade of green to color in the remaining top part of the cactus. Then, use the marker on the darker part of the cactus to blend the two shades together. For the smaller cactus, use the medium shade of green on the bottom of the stem and branches. Then, use the lightest shade of green to blend the colors together. Finish by coloring in the pots and the flower on the larger cactus. To color in the lightbulbs, use the darkest shade of pink in the middle of the light and then blend with the medium pink. Finally, run all three designs through a die cutting machine with the coordinating die.
Cut a card base that is 8.5 in x 5.5 in. Cut a smaller piece of scrapbook paper that measures 5.25 in x 4 in. Glue the scrapbook to the cardbase at an angle. Stamp "Hello Friend" directly to your paper. Glue the light below the sentiment. Next, glue the larger cactus to the center of your card. Add adhesive foam squares to the back of the smaller cactus and glue it next to the larger cactus. That's it! So easy, right?
