Altered Linen Star Tags

Posted by Morena Hockley

I have a weakness for vintage and retro inspired designs

That's why I'm always drawn to the fun products that Maya Road offers. I combined their pre-cut linen stars with various other embellishments to make shabby-chic stars. These stars would make pretty tags on gift bags, and could also be used as ornaments!

Supplies:

Use the stencils and paint to create designs on the stars.

Place two stars back to back, pin the lace to the stars and trim off excess.

Use the embroidery floss to stitch the stars and lace together. Leave one edge open to insert a small amount of filling. Once the star has been filled, stitch it closed and leave a loop of floss to hang the star with.

Embellish the star with various embellishments. I glued on vintage flower trinkets and stitched on an antique jeweled pearl pendant, both from Maya Road.

I plan to use these as tags to decorate gift bags. You could add lavender instead of filling to make scented sachets. Another option is to use heart shaped linen cuts and pink paint to make a more Valentine styled tag. With all the various embellishments to choose from, no two will be alike!
