The day is quickly approaching when we can add some color back into our wintery white lives. Indeed, Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to add a hint of reds, pinks, and other pastels to our otherwise dull and dreary February months.
The wonderful folks at Blitsy have provided us with plenty of opportunities to stock up on yarn for such occasion, but what can you make for the holiday? Why, delightfully bright Valentine's Day decor, of course! Here are some of my favorite items to make with yarn you can often purchase right here at Blitsy:
Valentine Heart Coasters - Coasters are always a go-to project for those times I need to add a pop of color in a limited amount of time. What I love about these coasters, in particular, is not just the fact they're heart-shaped, but they're also accented with reverse single crochet. If you haven't learned this stitch yet, you must - it's a sturdy, decorative edge that looks amazing on a wide variety of projects!
Valentines Tablecloth - If quick-and-easy ain't yo' thang, then check out this delicate crochet tablecloth created in white, pink, and red. The Yarnspirations site also recommends this project for bridal showers; with wedding season coming up, you're sure to get more than one use out of this guy!
Valentine's Day Gift Bag - This is a holiday that's celebrated by sprinkling your friends with deliciously sweet treats, and what better way to present them than in a cute little bag you've made yourself? Fun and fast, these bags would also make unique teacher's gifts (and help your wee one stand out in a crowd!)
Love My Valentine Throw - Here's a project that'll last you all winter long while also keeping you warm! This throw can be made in any color you'd like (I personally love the neon magenta pictured!), but the hearts are perfect for Valentine's Day. Plus, it's long-lasting, so you don't have to put it away once you've finished.
Amigurumi Love Birds - I really have no good reason to include these cuties, other than the fact I couldn't resist! They're adorable and super easy to whip up for those of you who are familiar with amigurumi construction, but also a good introduction for anyone who's not. Perch them in your favorite window at home or on your desk at work for a colorful imaginary “hug" throughout your day whenever you see them.
