Brutus Monroe Snow Globes
There is something magical about snow globes. I remember when I was growing up being obsessed with the little domes filled with tiny scenery and falling snow. Nothing could top the excitement I would get when I would give my miniature globe a shake and see the snow whirl around and fall to the bottom. It was so much fun to stare at the world inside of a snow globe.
Brutus Monroe has taken the fantasy of snow globes and created snow globe stamps with different city names on them. Some of the major cities like Chicago and New York are included in this collection. The sentiments "Miss you" and "Sending Love from" come in each set. The designs sketched inside of each dome depicts iconic buildings and architecture from each city. There are 7 cities to choose from!
There is also a snow globe die to go along with the snow globe stamps. This die allows you to perfectly cut out your snow globe stamped images. Having the die available really takes the project ideas to the next level. Obviously you can use the die to cut out your snow globe, but you can also use it to create a shaker card! That's right, I used the die to create a snow globe shaker card and a fish bowl shaker card. I also used the die to cut out the snow globe shape on my cardbase and had the snow globe design on the inside on my card with foam squares to create depth. My mind was on a roll when I was coming up with other ideas you could use the snow globe die for like a gumball machine and even a terrarium card! There are so many fun ways you could use the snow globe stamp and die!
Here are 3 Ways to Use the Snow Globe Stamp and Die from Brutus Monroe
Chicago Snow Globe Card:
Step 2: Color in the buildings and the base. Once colored, cut the Chicago base away from the globe. Glue the buildings die cut to the center of a card panel.
Step 4: Run a piece of acetate through a die cutting machine with the snow globe die.
Step 5: Add glue to the back of your colored design and adhere it to your card panel.
Step 6: Cut out the center of your foam shape - this is where you will put your toppings. You'll repeat this on your second piece of foam. After you've cut out both centers of your foam, peel the liner off one and add it on top of your colored design. Peel off the top liner and then peel off the back liner on your second foam piece and place it on top of the first piece - this will give you a double later.
Step 7: Next add your toppings. Remove the top liner and add the acetate.
Step 8: Stamp another piece of paper with your design and run it through your die cutting machine with the snow globe die.
Step 9: Use the center that was cut out from your foam piece as a guide to cut out the center of your die cut image. Color in the top of your die cut.
Step 10: Cut the base away from the die cut. Add glue to the top of the globe die cut and adhere to the top of the acetate. Add foam squares behind the snow globe base and adhere it to the bottom. Stamp "sending love from" on a piece of white paper, cut around it, add foam squares to the back, and glue it above your snow globe.
Step 11: Add glue to the back of your panel and adhere it to your cardbase.
Metallic New York Card:
Step 1: Center your snow globe die cut on the front of your cardbase and run ti through a die cutting machine.
Step 2: Cut down a piece of paper that is the same size as your cardbace and place it on the inside of the card.
Step 3: Add Sticky Glue to your New York snow globe stamp and stamp the image through the die cut onto the piece of paper on the inside of your card.
Step 4: Add embossing powder to your design and hit with a heat gun.
Step 5: Add foam adhesive squares to the front corners of your stamped paper and adhere it behind the die cut on the front your cardbase. This will create depth.
Step 6: Cut another piece of white cardstock the same size as your card base, stamp the center "miss you", and glue it to the inside of your cardbase.
Fish Bowl Shaker Card:
Step 1: For the fishbowl card, repeat the same steps in Card 1 for cutting your foam pieces and acetate.
Step 2: Stamp wave and fish images on a piece of white card stock and color in with markers.
Step 3: To create the cover of your shaker fish bowl, use the snow globe die to cut a piece of green paper.
Step 4: Use the center of the foam you cut from Card 1 as a template to cut out the center of the green snow globe die cut.
Step 5: Add the top of the snow globe die to the waves you colored and run through a die cutting machine. Glue the die cut to your card panel.
Step 6: Peel the liner off one foam piece and add it on top of your waves design. Peel off the top liner and then peel off the back liner on your second foam piece and place it on top of the first piece - this will give you a double later.
Step 7: Add a foam square behind each of your fish and glue on top of the waves.
Step 8: Next add your toppings. Remove the top foam liner and add the acetate.
Step 9: Add glue to the back of your green fish bowl die cut and place it on top of your acetate.
Step 10: Stamp "Happy Birthday" below the fish bowl.
Step 11: Add glued to the back of the panel and adhere to your card base.
